Large aircraft
manufacturer required Foreign Object Debris (FOD)
control generated from
a deteriorated lead containing coating
system in the overhead ceiling
of the flight operations hangar. DACA devised a
comprehensive plan with the customer to mitigate
the debris control concern, remove
all the
deteriorated lead coatings within a containment
system, and performed a
complete recoating of the
structural steel in
the ceiling nearly 100’ off
the ground. |

- Lead Abatement and Recoating over 1 Million square
feet of
structural steel consisting of 38’ deep truss and cantilever purlins
in flight operations hangar built in the 1940s.
- DACA designed a full containment system to contain
and recover the
wastewater and debris generated from
the water jetting operation.
- A Comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety
(EHS) Plan was
developed and fully implemented to
control the lead containing debris.
Continuous air
monitoring and environmental sampling was conducted
throughout the project. The analytical results clearly demonstrated
the
effectiveness of the cleaning methodology and containment system.
- The containment system was designed to enable half of
the hangar
to remain operational throughout the course
of the work. Multi-million
dollar aircraft were positioned adjacent to our enclosure with no
impacts to the aircrafts
or mechanics.
- DACA spray applied a High Performance Coating
System consisting of
a Polymeric Epoxy Amine
Penetrating Sealer with a Waterborne Acrylic
Finish.
